Social Networking Sites & The Relationships That Sprout From Them…

Gotta Update My Marital Status & Make Our Relationship Official!!!

So you just got a new girlfriend and you super stoked about it right, so you and your buddies are talking about it and the ask to see a picture of her and then come the questions of how you two met.

You smile and simply tell them that you met her right thereon Myspace and have even connected with her on Facebook as well an oh yeah let us not forget you are following her on Twitter.

Since the start of these social networking site these relationships seem to be popping up out of no where and have pretty much eliminated the need for online dating sites.

It is all right there at you finger tips, everything that you want to know about the person your trying to for a “Relationship” with all you have to do is look at there profile information and add them as a friend.

Once the friend request has been accepted the real fun begins because now you get to look at their pictures and chat with them in the instant messenger that is available.

Wow People Are You Serious

Oh Yeah It's A WOW Moment!!!

Is this what relationships have been reduced to, a few click here and there, some instant message chatting, and then top it all of with the changing of your status from single to taken or it’s complicated.

Choosing friends and potential mates has never been so easy you can browse through thousands of people and even narrow down the search so that you can look for exactly what you want in a lover.

You make the choice to accept, decline, and even block the people you want nothing to do with and get on your marry way to finding your life partner on a social networking site.

Yeah yeah yeah I know there are a few success stories of people who have met on Myspace and formed not only relationships but have gone as far as to get married.

However, the harsh reality of it all is that just because one or two relationships have worked does not mean that you should create an account in hope you will find your soul mate.

For crying out loud it is a damn social networking site where you update your status every 10 seconds so that you may share pointless ramblings with the world.

By doing this I suppose you secretly hope your going to find another person whose updates are equally as pointless so that you may share eternity together posting your pointless ramblings together… so good for you I suppose.

Nothing Wrong With Social Networking

Keys Special Made Fpr Social Networking Purposes...

No do not get my words twisted because I myself love to post nonsense and pointless ramblings all day long on my social networks as it is quite entertaining.

The point I am trying to make is that trying to form steady and healthy relationships on social networking sites where people get mad if they are not on your top friends is a tad bit silly.

You post your personal life all over these sites and when something goes wrong you hate on each other via the same site that you “Fell In Love” on.

To me the whole thing seems really pointless but far be it from me to stop anyone on their quest for love in this world as it is a tedious and stressful quest.

Simply saying that going to the find people section and browse through men and women as if you are buying shoes out of a catalog seem a bit bizarre and in it’s own way somewhat tacky.

The Curtain Closes

When Getting To Know Someone Masks Of Any Kind Can Get In The Way...

The bottom line here is that if you can form a happy and healthy relationships on any social networking site then more power to you but that should not be your only source when looking for a companion.

You really have no idea if the person you are talking to is telling the truth about who they say they are and you cannot physically date your computer screen.

Whatever is is that makes you happy and float your boat by all means have a ball with it… just keep your guard up because your really cannot trust everything on the internet despite what people say.

Just like if shit is on TV or the news then is has to be real… um hate to burst your bubble but someone is feeding you lies because a lot of it is far fetched and amped up.

Just like people are, they can be whoever they wanna be behind a keyboard and a computer screen so it is going to take a lot more then a marital status and some instant messaging to know who they really are.

  1. Hey Kristi,

You know what? I never thought about using Social Media this way. I guess I'm all about the business side of social media and never looked for a “Love Life” relationship using them. Plus, Dawn probably wouldn't be that happy with me. ;) lol

Thanks for enlightening my knowledge base even further.
