Fresno NightClubs... What's Your Poison???
Fresno nightclubs under watch, no really, what a shock that is right? However, I for one had no idea it was going to be so extensive. This was brought to my attention while I was having lunch with my boyfriend.
I happened to glance at the newspaper on the table, and notices the headline “Fresno Sweeps Keep An Eye On The Nightlife.” Me being 21 ans occasionally going to Fresno nightclubs, I had to investigate.
So here it is in a nut shell. Basically, Fresno nightclubs are under the microscope and on very close watch. I dunno if anyone was watching the news when that Grey Hound bus crashed back in July, and killed six people, two of which were under aged intoxicated ladies.
Well ever since that fiasco, The Fresno nightclubs have been subjected to occasional sweeps, just to make sure they are following the rules.
So what are “The Sweeps?” The sweeps are a mix of Fresno police, fire, and code enforcement, they are also aided by the state Alcoholic Beverage Control and Fresno County Health Department representatives. The sweeps are getting very mixed reviews from Fresno nightclub owners, including their customers. Some say that they are intimidating when they enter the establishment.
Others have said, that is it absolutely okay for Fresno officials to take charge in preventing under aged drinking, and then there are they neutral people in the middle. The neutral ones, typically are those who are legal to drink and the sweeps have no affect on them. The sweeps usually roll in pack of 8-10, now I understand that they wanna get under aged drinking under control, but do they sweeps really need a team that big,
Seriously, no wonder some people feel intimidated by these people, it is almost like a mafia type thing. Inspections have already happened to many Fresno nightclubs, some say that things went smoothly, other say that the sweeps were rude to their employees, intimidated customers, and were an eye sore. WELL DUH, how do you miss a group of people snooping around your establishment.
Obviously they are going to draw attention, but they way I see it, is that if the Fresno nightclubs have nothing to hide they shouldn’t be worried. The Fresno nightclubs that are breaking the rules, they deserve to be punished, or even shut down. There have been quite a few incidents that I have heard about with some of the 21+ as well as the 18+ Fresno nightclubs. Some rule breaking is going down.
Either way, I am one of those neutral people. I am 21 and legal to drink, it is no shock to me that kids are trying to get into clubs and drink. They want to because they can’t, cause once you legally can it just isn’t fun anymore. Good to know that Fresno officials are taking things seriously, I can think of a few Fresno nightclubs that I wouldn’t mind going out of business. Well that is all for now my friends, till next time!
